INTERNET POR COLOMBIA SELECTS InterSKY SHIRON TECHNOLOGY FOR LARGE-SCALE PROJECT IN COLOMBIA
COMPARTEL Southern Region with Leading-Edge Technology
Bogota COLOMBIA – July, 2006 - Shiron Satellite Communications a global satellite leader in technology solutions announced that Internet Por Colombia (IPC), will be using Shiron’s InterSKY technology product for the largest broadband project in Colombia, which represents $3.2 million in sales for Shiron, as part of the last-mile IP data connectivity platform for turnkey project implementation of COMPARTEL southern region.
The IPC partnership was formed to specifically address the agreement with the Ministry of Communications of Colombia, to deploy broadband connectivity to thousands of public institutions including: public schools, municipal governments, medical centers and agro-business centers. The Compartel project is a five-year initiative to provide broadband telecommunications access to public institutions in Colombia. The project involves providing high-speed Internet service together with support and personal computers for local municipalities, schools, hospitals and businesses.
